Like all StormCats boats, ‘Tope Hunter’ is structurally geared to our North Atlantic swells and unpredictable British weather conditions. As for the layout however, the inspiration for this model comes partly from a different source – the South African surf boat.

'A 'must try,' exceptional new boat

The Tope Hunter 5.9m uses the same proven 5.9 MonoStorm mould but with the standard Tope Hunter 5.0m layout. The front console has a moulded dashboard for GPS, Sounder and VHF, gives shelter and excellent visibility of the approaching waves, with two front seats behind the console and two moulded seats at the stern. The 5.9m could easily be fitted with an “A Frame” and removable cuddy just in case you want to venture out on wilder days.

Other features include a good gunnel height which is perfect for taking out the family .it has that bit more uncluttered space, ideal for unhooking the big fish, extra storage for pots and creels and room for your family/ crew to manoeuvre.

The 5.0m Tope Hunter has the usual impressive statistics- a top speed of 28 knots and she planes at just 12 knots, and with two men on board, which is an unusually high speed. This 5.9 m boat can be fitted with up to 90 hp which can reach even higher speeds of 32 knots.

To summarise it is a good versatile all purpose boat to suit both the angler and for a family boat. So far it has made waves in Cornwall with two of our customers choosing this model. One of the boats has been specially adapted to the local conditions at Cadgwith, with a keel band and bilge keels fitted so that it can be easily launched and retrieved from the beach. Simon Everett, the boat and angling journalist came to visit us for our Tope Fishing festival this year and to sample our boats. See our boat test in the boat news section of website.
